Jukebox Saturday Night

JUKEBOX SATURDAY NIGHT is a musical revue celebrating the great Big Bands of the 1930s, ’40s and ’50s and the unforgettable music of America’s Swing Era. With an energetic ensemble of instrumentalists and vocalists — including musicians with experience performing with some of the legendary name bands — the show brings the sound, style and excitement of the Big Band era to the stage.

Audiences will hear the music made famous by Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Harry James, Les Brown, Woody Herman, Cab Calloway, Louis Armstrong and many more. It’s an entertaining, nostalgic concert filled with great melodies, memorable lyrics and the irresistible rhythms that defined a generation.

The program features favorites including In the Mood, Moonlight Serenade, Pennsylvania 6-5000, Take the “A” Train, Sing, Sing, Sing, Sentimental Journey, I’m Getting Sentimental Over You, One O’Clock Jump, Begin the Beguine, Stardust, Satin Doll, Tuxedo Junction, Mood Indigo, Jukebox Saturday Night and many more.

Jukebox Saturday Night also offers Music of Mancini, a captivating celebration of the extraordinary music of Henry Mancini. From his early career and connection to the Glenn Miller Orchestra to his legendary work in Hollywood, the program takes audiences on a musical journey through one of America’s most beloved composers.

Featuring concise narration with fascinating stories and background about Mancini’s life and career, Music of Mancini showcases the melodies that became inseparable from some of the most memorable moments in film and television. The program includes Peter Gunn, The Pink Panther Theme, Moon River, Days of Wine and Roses, Charade, Baby Elephant Walk, The Sweetheart Tree and other Mancini favorites.

Performed by the talented musicians of Jukebox Saturday Night, Music of Mancini is an engaging tribute to the composer whose sophisticated melodies, jazz influences and unmistakable style continue to captivate audiences around the world.

EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH: Jukebox Saturday Night also offers an educational outreach program that provides opportunities for student participation and introduces young musicians to the music and traditions of America’s Big Band era.
