LOVE LETTERS by A. R. Gurney

Starring Patrick Duffy & Linda Purl

Patrick Duffy—stage and television actor best known for his starring roles on Dallas, Step by Step and Man From Atlantis—joins real-life partner Linda Purl in A. R. Gurney’s award-winning and deeply moving play, a story told entirely through letters exchanged across the years.

Spanning nearly 50 years, Love Letters follows Andrew Makepeace Ladd III and Melissa Gardner from childhood through the many turns their lives take. Through birthdays, ambitions, marriages, disappointments and paths not taken, their letters reveal a relationship that changes over time while never quite letting go.

With only two actors, two chairs and a lifetime of correspondence, Love Letters creates an intimacy that draws audiences completely into the lives of its characters. In the hands of Patrick Duffy and Linda Purl, the humor, affection, missed opportunities and enduring connection at the heart of the play become both deeply personal and universally recognizable.

“Love Letters was sublime…Patrick Duffy and Linda Purl, two seasoned actors, were outstanding in their performances…incredibly special to witness two gifted actors—who also happen to be a real-life couple—perform this live. I laughed and I cried, and I was certainly not the only one.”Suffolk News, UK
