Legendary Folk Music Group Announces Return to Stage!
Since 1962, The New Christy Minstrels have been delighting audiences with their legendary albums and unforgettable live concerts. In the era of folk duos and trios, NCM founder Randy Sparks conceived of a new folk music sound performed with a larger chorus of voices and the results were electrifying – the very first album winning a Grammy award!
For the first time since the pandemic, the “Christies” have now regrouped and are ready to bring this unforgettable show back to concert halls nationwide. The performance includes all the great NCM hits, and a tour-de-force through the American Folk Music canon! “We’re thrilled to bring The New Christy Minstrels back to the stage,” said Becky Jo Benson, 27 year performing member of the group. “Our goal is to honor our musical legacy while continuing to deliver the high-energy, positive performances that have earned us standing ovations for years. Each song in our repertoire is carefully chosen to reinforce our message of national unity and the greatness of American folk music.”
The re-launched group includes an all-star cast of fan-favorite NCM alumni spanning the last 50 years including Ed Stockton, Becky Jo Benson, William Florian, Tom Becker, Dave Rainwater, Greg O’Haver, Bunny Sings Wolf, and Alan Dahl, ensuring that the authentic sound and spirit of The New Christy Minstrels remains intact. Their performances promise to offer a blend of beloved classics and new arrangements, all infused with the group’s trademark enthusiasm, harmony, and classic folk instrumentation.
